Estimate, not diagnosis

Health and nutrition calculators are useful because they turn common formulas into practical starting points. BMI, BMR, TDEE, protein targets, water intake, body fat estimates and caffeine checks can help users understand ranges and plan better. But none of those tools can see a user's medical history, pregnancy status, medication, eating disorder risk, pathology results, injury status, performance goals or clinician advice.

That is why these pages use careful language. A calculator can estimate a target, show a range, explain a formula and suggest what to consider next. It should not present a number as a medical verdict. Where a topic is sensitive, the page should include limitations and encourage professional advice when the result could affect health decisions.

Formula and population limits

Before a methodology page is considered finished, it should answer four reader-first questions. What does the calculator actually estimate? What inputs change the result most? What mistakes are common enough to warn about? When should the user stop relying on the calculator and check a better source?

These questions keep the page practical. A user does not need academic detail for every calculation. They need enough context to use the tool without misunderstanding it.
