Most unit conversion calculators on Tools by Layna use fixed conversion factors. A fixed factor means one unit is multiplied or divided by a known relationship. For example, inches and centimetres are connected by the exact definition that one inch equals 2.54 centimetres. Kilometres and miles use a defined relationship that is suitable for everyday road, travel and fitness calculations. Temperature is different because Celsius and Fahrenheit include both a multiplier and an offset, so those calculators do not use a simple one-step multiplication.
We keep measurement types separate because mixing dimensions is one of the fastest ways to create a wrong result. Length, area and volume are related, but they are not interchangeable. If a length doubles, an area conversion involves squared units and a volume conversion involves cubed units. That is why the conversion section separates length, area, volume, speed, weight, energy, time and cooking measures rather than putting everything into one confusing box.
Rounding rules
Conversion outputs are usually rounded to a practical number of decimal places. A product dimension may only need one or two decimal places, while a recipe conversion may need a kitchen-friendly figure. When a result could be used for compliance, engineering, dosage, safety, or official documentation, the result should be checked against the relevant standard or professional source.
We avoid presenting rounded numbers as if they are exact when the source relationship is not exact for every use case. Cooking measurements are a clear example. A cup, tablespoon or teaspoon conversion can be useful for volume, but it does not automatically tell you the weight of flour, sugar, protein powder or rice.
