What this calculator estimates
Add the estimated energy from alcohol and mixer across a number of identical drinks. Alcohol is entered in grams per drink, not millilitres of beverage or an alcohol percentage.
Inputs and calculation method
Enter alcohol grams in one drink, mixer calories in that drink and the number of drinks. The tool calculates a per-drink total, then multiplies it by the number entered. It does not convert drink volume or ABV into alcohol grams.
Formula and units
Per-drink kcal = alcohol grams × 7 + mixer kcal. Total kcal = per-drink kcal × number of drinks. The displayed figures are rounded to whole kcal.
How to use it
- Find or estimate grams of alcohol for one drink.
- Enter calories from the mixer and other non-alcohol ingredients per drink.
- Enter how many identical drinks to include.
- Calculate separate drink types separately if their alcohol or mixer amounts differ.
Worked example
With 14 g alcohol, 80 kcal of mixer and 2 drinks, one drink contains 14 × 7 + 80 = 178 kcal. Two drinks total 356 kcal. Using a zero-calorie mixer changes the result to 196 kcal across two otherwise identical drinks.
How to read the result
The result is energy arithmetic, not a measure of intoxication, blood alcohol or safe consumption. Sugars already included in the mixer calorie figure should not be added again.
Common mistakes
- Entering beverage millilitres in the alcohol-grams field.
- Entering ABV, such as 5, as though it were grams.
- Forgetting that a large pour can contain more alcohol than the serving on a label.
Method limitations
The tool assumes each drink is identical and all non-alcohol energy is included in the mixer field. It does not assess alcohol-related health risks or driving safety.

Alcohol Calorie Calculator FAQs
Can I enter a beer volume and ABV?
No. This form requires grams of alcohol and does not calculate them from volume and ABV.
Does this count the whole drink?
It counts alcohol energy plus the entered mixer calories. Include other non-alcohol ingredients in the mixer figure.
Does fewer calories mean a drink is safe?
No. Energy content does not establish safe alcohol consumption or fitness to drive.
Using the estimate
Use grams of alcohol and per-drink mixer calories consistently. Keep energy estimates separate from alcohol-safety decisions.
